Dune, Dundrum

Marcon was appointed Principal Contractor to deliver the strip out of the existing retail space and all its finishes; demolishing part of the existing stockroom and fit-out of new retail experience including all specialist items.

Dune wanted a concept that was innovative, appropriate to their target customer and introduced new ideas to enhance the retail theatre of the store. They wanted greater unisex appeal, warm, friendly, and fun with a real ‘wow’ factor.

The store was completely open frontage, therefore they wanted to create a magnetic sky catwalk running down the centre of the shop and the back wall.  The original design specified the use of a heavy gauge metal panel which would be installed at high level.  Marcon re-designed the catwalk using a timber frame and wrapping in a thin magnetic metal. This design had the same overall effect; however, it reduced the cost of this element of work by 22% and due to the lighter design was easier to install and in turn reducing health and safety risks.
