Marcon complete fit out of Abercrombie & Fitch’s first Northern Ireland store
Marcon have successfully completed the full interior fit-out of Abercrombie & Fitch’s first standalone store in Northern Ireland, located within Victoria Square, Belfast.
The project was delivered over a 16-week programme and demonstrates another milestone in Marcon’s growing partnership with the globally recognised fashion retailer, having completed multiple Hollister stores for the brand, reflecting the confidence placed in our team’s expertise, quality and ability to deliver. Working alongside Hyphen Architects and the client team, Marcon transformed an existing two-level retail unit into a contemporary shopping environment that reflects Abercrombie & Fitch’s latest global store concept.
Undertaken within one of Belfast’s busiest shopping centres, the project required detailed planning and coordination from the outset. With the store situated amongst operational retail units within the live Victoria Square shopping centre, detailed logistics surveys and carefully structured delivery and access plans were developed to ensure minimal disruption to neighbouring retailers, centre operations and visitors throughout the works.
The project involved the comprehensive refurbishment and fit-out of the existing retail space, including demolition works, new partitions, floor and wall finishes, installation of new fixtures and fittings, internal graphics and signage, together with full mechanical and electrical services, HVAC and plumbing installations. Marcon also undertook all shopfront works, incorporating refinishing of the existing storefront and the installation of new illuminated signage in line with Abercrombie & Fitch brand standards.
A key feature of the project was the delivery of a high level of specialist joinery and millwork throughout the store. This included bespoke stairwell panelling, feature slat walls, cash desk wraps and detailed retail display elements, all carefully manufactured to create the premium shopping experience that the Abercrombie & Fitch brand is known for. Close coordination with the client team was essential throughout the programme to ensure furniture layouts, merchandising requirements and customer flow considerations were fully integrated into the construction process.
Given the live retail environment, construction activities were carefully managed around shopping centre operations. Comprehensive hoarding arrangements, strict adherence to landlord requirements and extensive stakeholder coordination ensured the project was delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal impact on the surrounding trading environment.
The completed store provides Abercrombie & Fitch with a high-quality retail destination in the heart of Belfast and marks the brand’s first standalone presence in Northern Ireland.
Ross Mullan, Contract Manager at Marcon, said:
