An exciting development for coffee lovers and travellers!

Marcon have completed the 9-week fit out of a new 2600 sq ft coffee shop at London Luton Airport for speciality coffee brand – Black Sheep Coffee.

The new 79-seater Black Sheep Coffee store is located airside at London Luton Airport, adjacent to the terminal concourse.  It involved our team working around live airport services.  A close working relationship was required with airport staff to ensure no disruption to critical airport operations. Robust procedures were in place and strictly adhered too.

The interior is designed to create a space where customers can unwind, catch up on work, or simply enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.  The design of the new branch incorporates elements of Black Sheep Coffee’s signature industrial-chic aesthetic.  It features sleek furnishings, reclaimed wood accents, graffiti logos and modern lighting fixtures. Wall finishes include corrugated metal wall cladding with rusted effect finish and concrete effect walls and solid reclaimed timber plank cladding to really add to the rustic feel.  Other features include custom made banquette seating with integrated LED lighting, self-order kiosks and steel framed planters and plinths with reclaimed timber cladding.  As principal contractor on site, Marcon we also responsible for the management and co-ordination of client direct packages.  These packages included coffee and catering equipment, lighting, non-fixed furniture, CCTV, and IT hardware.

Black Sheep Coffee was founded in 2013 and now occupies over 40 sites across major cities in the UK, as well as branches worldwide.

The Black Sheep Coffee chain is known for its dedication to sourcing high-quality beans and serving the world’s first specialty grade robusta beans. It has gained popularity for its commitment to offering a memorable coffee experience. With the opening of its Luton Airport branch, the company aims to extend its reach to jet-setting customers, who can now indulge in premium, handcrafted beverages before traveling.

The company’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its operations.  It prioritizes ethically sourced coffee beans and implements eco-friendly practices, including compostable cups and recycling initiatives

Commenting on the project, Director at Marcon, Mark O’Connor said: “We are thrilled to complete the new Black Sheep Coffee store at Luton Airport. Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to ensure the installation reflects their brand’s ethos.  This is our first project delivered for Black Sheep Coffee and we are looking forward to hopefully forging a strong partnership built on collaboration, innovation, and shared goals.”
