Marcon has raised £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in the charity’s ‘Memory Walk’ at Stormont Estate in Belfast.

A group of dedicated Marcon employees fundraised through sponsorship from friends and family, hosting coffee mornings and taking part in the walk.   The Alzheimer’s Society is a wonderful charity that provides support to local families and has done so for many employees at Marcon.

Marcon is a prominent member of the National Association of Shopfitters, an organisation that promotes, supports and develops the shopfitting and interior contracting sector.  Through supporting the Alzheimer’s Society Marcon contributed to the NAS’ Centenary Charity Challenge.   The challenge aimed to raise a total of £100k in 2019 in honour of the NAS’ Centenary Year, with members engaging in a wide range of activities from cake sales to cycle rides and renovation projects. Due to these fantastic efforts, the target has been reached with £104k already raised for charity.

Mark O’Connor comments: “We are absolutely thrilled to have raised £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity that is very close to the hearts of many Marcon employees.  The work that they do to support families that are affected by Alzheimer’s is amazing and we are pleased to be able to make a contribution to their efforts.

I would like to say thank you to our employees who volunteered to take part in the walk and for the support of their colleagues, family and friends for their kind support.

To be able to contribute to the NAS’ Centenary Charity Challenge is the icing on the cake.  Congratulations to everyone in the NAS for reaching this milestone and raising £100k for charity.”

Linzi Stewart, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in the Northern area of Northern Ireland adds: “We are extremely grateful to all at Marcon Fit-Out Ltd for all of the time and energy they have put into their fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society. We’re facing an incredible challenge: one person every three minutes develops dementia and there is no cure. There are over 20,400 people living with dementia in Northern Ireland today and, as the leading dementia charity, Alzheimer’s Society provides information and support, funds research, campaigns to improve care and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer’s Society will be here for anyone affected by dementia – wherever they are, whatever they’re going through.”
